White Stuff

All this snow must have finally gotten to my brain...

2009 JCS Ornament issue
3"x4" scissors block / pin cube

I had never stitched a white monochromatic piece before and much to my surprise, I enjoyed it quite a bit.  Considering how much I love color, stitching with white is just something I never think to do, but I think I'll do it more often now.

backside pocket

Made a little pocket on the backside for needle packs and such.  I restrained myself from tarting it up too much with cording, lace, etc. but I'm already hearing it complain about being 'plain and boring'.
I may have to break out the embellishments and glue gun just to get some "Peace" around here.

Well folks, it has been a long, tiresome, not so restful weekend and even though I'd like to watch some figure skating, I think I'm going to head off to bed.  I'm already dreading work tomorrow.  Four day work weeks are exhausting at my place of business.  Squeezing 5 days of work into 4 is not a bowl of cherries, but that's the price we pay for three day weekends.  I'll try to be a little perkier next time I write.

Until then, I hope you all are safe and warm, wherever you are.

  1. Gorgeous!! How long did this take you to finish? It's really a lovely project! Good luck this week - Tuesday is already half over!

  2. Caroline: a swift stitcher could probably finish this whole project in a day. I stitched 'at it' for a couple of hours here and there. The finish work is so quick and easy! All you need is a foam block, a bunch of straight pins, coordinating fabric and a little felt or quilt batting to cover your foam block. I normally hate finishing but these cubes are just the funniest! You've got to try one.

  3. YOU JUST ROCK MY FREAKIN' WORLD!!!!!

My dearest Marnie, I will most certainly send you a proper thank you note through the mail, but may I just tell you that I am not worthy to be in the same universe as someone as wonderful as you are.

    THANK YOU!

Love love love this finish, by the way!

  4. Hi Marnie, Just catching up -- I love the idea of v8 in chili, your verse to your husband is very sweet even if you no longer like the cloth you stitched it on, and your new scissor holder is da-bomb! I keep telling myself that one day I'm going to stitch some needlework tools for myself...and it never happens. I'll just have to live vicariously through you! xo Susan
