I live in what used to be a coal mining area of the UK (and don't get me started on why it is no longer...) and my father was a miner before I was born. He left the pits after a rock fall left him and some colleagues trapped. Fortunately, all came out alive but if things hadn't worked out, I wouldn't be here.
